What are Youth Worker Exchanges?

Youth Worker Exchanges are free, monthly resource exchanges for youth workers where we expore topics directly impacting our professional + personal lives. We create a space of peer exchange following a methodology largely based on the art of inquiry. We meet within a different youth work site around San Francisco each month.

Who should attend and participate?
Youth workers should! Youth workers are professionals who work with or on behalf of young people - everyone from front line staff to executive leadership to funders!

Our next Youth Worker Exchange will be held on Tuesday, December 1st and the theme is: Borders. Our community host this month is YearUp (www.yearup.org). We will start at 9:45AM and end at 12:00PM.

DESCRIPTION:
Borders are all around us, visible and invisible. Whether consciously or not, we create, break down and maintain borders throughout both our personal and professional lives. This Youth Worker Exchange will move participants through smalll group reflections on questions such as: What are borders or boundaries in our lives? What borders do you experience? When are borders appropriate?

Our guestperts will also be sharing tools that look at borders within a programmatic level, utilizing a peace education lens to issues of personal advocacy - how do we determine when personal information-sharing is appropriate within a professional setting?
